DITMER-LEHMER FAMILY PAPERS

Principally papers of Jacob F. Lehmer (d. 1914), York County justice of the peace, surveyor, and farmer, who lived in the vicinity of Dillsburg and Franklintown. Featured also are papers of his wife, Sarah A. Ditmer Lehmer, and her sister, Lydia M. Ditmer. Papers consist of correspondence, diaries, accounts, and miscellaneous items.

Correspondence, 1863-1875, pertains to personal and family matters and to local occurrences. Correspondence, 1875-1910, relates mainly to business and legal matters. The greater part of the Ditmer-Lehmer Family Papers involves the diaries of Jacob F. Lehmer, 1871-1914. Entries refer chiefly to weather conditions, surveying of land and execution of legal papers, travels, and the performance of household duties by Jacob and Sarah Lehmer.

Accounts include tax notices, receipts, and rough notes pertaining to household and legal expenses. Among miscellaneous items are advertising cards and circulars, photographs, and rough notes on a variety of matters.
