to the career in state planning of Francis A. Pitkin (b. 1899, d. 1969), executive
director of the State Planning Board from 1936 to 1964, except for the period
1955-1959, when he served as director, Bureau of Community Development, Department
of Commerce. Included is an 18-page manuscript entitled A History of the
South Pennsylvania Railroad, dated 1935, author unknown.
