William W. Scranton (b. 1917), lawyer, businessman, and Republican Party politician, served as special assistant to the U.S. secretary of state before being elected a member of the 87th Congress from the 10th Congressional District of Pennsylvania in 1960. He was Pennsylvania's governor from 1963 to 1967.
