Manuscript Group 251 OZIAS FERREE PAPERS 1865-1904 .25 cu. ft.
Consists mainly of letters, 1865-1904, of an Iowa farmer, Ozias Ferree (b. 1818,
d. 1904), to the family of his wife's cousin, Mrs. Daniel Leaman, in Lancaster,
Pennsylvania. Ferree moved from his home in Adams County in 1863, to Panora, Iowa,
where he settled permanently. His letters contain excellent descriptions of his
original journey west and of his life in Iowa. Included also are genealogical
materials pertaining to the Ferree and Leaman families.
