Using the pen name of "John of Lancaster," John F. Meginness (b. 1827, d. 1899) was connected with the Williamsport Gazette and Bulletin for some twenty years as journalist and editor. A noted local historian and book collector, he authored a number of county and local histories. His papers consist of correspondence, newspaper clippings, and biographical materials relevant to his writings and concerning genealogical matters in the central Pennsylvania area.
