The Keating Land Company was involved with sales of land in Clearfield and Clinton
counties with McKean, Cameron and Potter counties also represented. The records
actually contain the papers of three land companies: John Keating and Company,
1796-1856; Keating and Company, 1856-1884; and Hamlin and Forest, 1884-1900s.
The records contain general correspondence, 1855-1868; cash and receipt books,
1814-1839; ledgers listing Clinton and Clearfield county lots, 1816-1918; surveyor
field notes, 1852-1856; map books of McKean, Potter, Cameron, Clinton and Clearfield
counties with field notes, 1876; and articles of agreement, 1827-1891.
