The bulk of the photographs are of commercial businesses such as hotels, saloons, general and specialty stores, restaurants, and craft shops operated by blacksmiths, stonecutters, carriage makers, etc. People are often posed next to their business establishments. Most photographs are identified by town with the name of the business on the reverse. Towns visited by Ross and his wife include: Adamsdale, Alburtis, Allentown, Annville, Blandon, Bowers, Campbelltown, Centerpoint, Fleetwood, Fogelsville, Hereford, Kutztown, Macungie, Monterey, Newberry, Pottsville, Reading, Shamokin, Temple, Topton, West Leesport, and Williamsport.
The Archives purchased the contact prints from Bransky in 1979 and 1980. The
negatives are now owned by the Raymond Holland Industrial History Collection
in Allentown.
