Thomas Kramer was the Justice of the Peace in Palmyra, Lebanon County, from 1844 to 1880. The collection, arranged chronologically as a general file, consists of personal and public papers. Types of documents found include agreements, 1842-1882; summons, 1842-1882; releases, 1854-1870; bonds, 1842-1873; executions, 1835-1877; correspondence, 1835-1882; materials pertaining to the Kramer and Segner families; and miscellaneous papers, land surveys, receipts, and letters that date from as early as 1780. The public documents were filed by various Justices of the Peace in Lebanon County, particularly in Palmyra, Campbelltown and Londonderry. Noteworthy justices represented include Abraham Philips (ca. 1810-1838) and William Geddes (ca. 1839-1844). Also included in the collection is a handwritten manuscript A History of Pennsylvania From its First Settlements by the Swedes and the Dutch Down to the Year 1872, by John F. Wolfinger of Milton, Pa. The collection was donated by the Registrar of the State Museum, who obtained it from Northumberland County officials.
