Manuscript Group 31 THEODORE BURR COVERED BRIDGE SOCIETY RECORDS
1959-2012
6 cu. ft.
Established in 1959 to assist in the preservation and restoration of Pennsylvania's
covered wooden bridges and to promote the study of their construction and history,
the Theodore Burr Covered Bridge Society accumulates and records data on both
the existing structures and those that have been destroyed or removed. The covered
bridge file, which is the largest part of the collection, contains folders, filed
by county, with data on each covered bridge. Photographs, brochures, and clippings
are included. The collection also holds an administrative file, county maps, and
copies of the society's publication, Portals.
