The Pennsylvania Bar Association was founded in Harrisburg, Pa. in 1895, to "advance the science of jurisprudence; to promote the administration of justice; to secure proper legislation; to encourage a thorough legal education; to uphold the dignity of the Bar" and to provide social contact for lawyers while preserving the "history of the profession and the memory of its members."

The collection contains correspondence, 1895-1897, of the Pennsylvania Bar Association primarily addressed to Edward P. Allinson, Secretary, and to Samuel Dixon, President. Included in the collection are membership lists from various counties, 1895, and correspondence relating to committees, 1895. Most of the correspondence pertains to the activities of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the legal interests of its members.
