Walter Benson (1919-1987) was Chief of the Photographic Section at
Olmsted Air Force Base, Middletown, Pennsylvania. Benson moved
to the Harrisburg area in the 1950s. Collection contains black and white photographic negatives of historical architectural sites in south central Pennsylvania including farms, school houses, bridges, churches, cemeteries, and scenic views. Towns included are:
- Hershey
- Wellsville
- Gettysburg
- Indiantown Gap
- Stoverdale
- Lingletown
- Annville
- Grantville
- Strasburg
- Harrisburg
- Middletown
Most views were taken from an artistic perspective, often with a "fisheye" camera lens. Many of the structures no longer exist. There are also photographic prints of aerial views of:
- Harrisburg
- Hershey Chocolate Plant
- Capitol City Airport
- New Cumberland Army Depot
- Harrisburg Airport
