The Rathmell Covered Bridge Collection contains several hundred black and white
images of covered bridges throughout Pennsylvania taken by James and Virginia
Rathmell of Landsdale. Arranged alphabetically by county, most photographs are
accompanied by a data sheet giving length, date of construction, historical
facts, and in some cases date of removal or destruction, and date of photographs.
Some images are copies of older historical photographs. Also included are seventy-six
color slides of ferries, trolleys, train stations, and steam traction and locomotive
engines around Pennsylvania.
