Six folders of letters, dating from 1775-1811, relative to the business and
legal affairs of certain of the descendants of William Penn and featuring these
correspondents: John Arndt, Anthony Butler, Turner Camac, Benjamin Chew, Jr.,
John Reynolds Coates, James Greenleaf, Henry Hill, Joseph Hopkinson, John F.
Mifflin, Governor Thomas Mifflin, Anne Penn, Granville Penn, John Penn, William
Penn (b. 1776, d. 1845), and James Wilson. The collection also features the
following: accounts, 1779-1807, 1 folder; articles of agreement, 1795, 1 folder;
bonds, 1795, 1802, 1 folder; and land records, 1775-88, 1 folder. Among other
items are marriage and burial records of William Penn (1923 copy by the Society
of Friends), 1 folder; deeds, Pennsbury, lease and release, May 3-4, 1703, 1
folder; and a printed copy, 1682, of The Frame of the Government of the Province
of Pennsylvania in America: Together with Certain Laws Agreed upon in England
by the Governour and Divers Free-Men of the Aforesaid Province.
