Henry Sartor Photograph Collection, ca. 1876-1886 (unfoldered) This collection consists of nineteen original albumen mounted prints of rural scenes of Pennsylvania, ca. 1880. Henry Sartor was a photographer for the Union view Company of Rochester, NY, between 1876 and 1886. He traveled throughout Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Michigan and other places photographing subjects for the company. Several of the photographs show the "democrat wagon," No. 19 of the Union View Company, in which he and his helpers traveled. This wagon carried equipment and served as a darkroom at night. Views include ruins of the fire of Milton, PA, May 14, 1880; the Logan Dam and Mill and a covered bridge, all probably at Danville, PA. Many of the subjects and locations are unidentifiable. Most have some vague identification written on the reverse. All photographs are 71/2 " x 91/2 " and are mounted on a the cardboard which is brittle and has frayed with age. All are in extremely fragile condition. No original negatives are present. 1.) Logan Dam--Mill--and Democrat wagon on bridge, undated (1 item) 2.)
