MG-23. ARTHUR C. BINING PAPERS, [ca. 1898-1955].

Notes, photographs, clippings, and bibliographical references used by Arthur C. Bining in the preparation of his books and articles relating to the development of the iron and steel industry. Manuscripts of some of Bining’s writings, such as Pennsylvania Iron Manufacture in the Eighteenth Century, are included, as are letters from George W. Schultz and Frank W. Melvin. Included are photographs of numerous forges and furnaces and of various facilities owned by the Bethlehem Steel Company, Carnegie Steel Company, and Robesonia Iron Company, Ltd. Included among the photographs of forges and furnaces are photographs of African American mine workers probably employed by the Robesonia Iron Company.
