MG-201. GERTRUDE HOWARD NAUMAN PAPERS, 1780-1972.
The collection consists of political, civic, and personal papers of Gertrude Howard Nauman (1901-1973) as well as civic and personal papers of Gertrude Howard Olmsted McCormick (1874-1953), the mother of Gertrude Howard Nauman. Mrs. McCormick was one of the organizers of the Harrisburg Symphony and the Harrisburg Art Association. Also included in the collection are three pieces of sheet music composed by African Americans: "Carry Me Back to Old Virginny," by James A. Bland; "W. C. Handy’s Collection of Blues," and "It Ain’t Gonna Rain No Mo," by Wendell W. Hall.
