MG-279. GEORGE N. WADE COLLECTION, 1916-1973.

George N. Wade, a Cumberland County Republican, served as a member of the state senate from the 31st. District from 1941 until his death in 1974. Prior to becoming a senator, Wade was eastern manager of the Ohio National Life Insurance Company and held several positions in Cumberland County including board member of the Cumberland County National Bank and Trust Company. During his years in the senate, he was a member of the State Highway and Bridge Authority and chairman of the Minority Appropriations Committee. The collection includes business records, speeches, correspondence, political items, and photographs. In the series Pictures, 1946, 1854-1973 and undated is a folder labeled "Pictures 1967-73;" containing three prints having African Americans as subjects.
