MG-397. M. HARVEY TAYLOR COLLECTION, 1896-1982.

A native of Harrisburg, Morris Harvey Taylor was leader in the state Republican Party from 1934 to 1963, chairman of the Dauphin County Republican Committee, and a state senator from 1940 to 1963, when he rose to the position of president pro tempore. He also owned and was president of M. Harvey Taylor Insurance Company. In the series Photographs is a folder labeled "Dinner meetings at Harrisburg Country Club" in which are two photographs showing African American men as cooks, chefs, and waiters in a country club setting.
