Chiefly papers of John R. Haudenshield of Carnegie (b. 1888, d. 1959), member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from Allegheny County, 1939, 1940, 1943-1959, and member of the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, 1951-1956.

Correspondence, genealogical notes, and other manuscript materials; printed items, including booklets, brochures, newspaper and magazine articles, and family histories; and a number of photostats and photographs. A portion of the correspondence is with officials of the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission. The papers relate to the history and development of Pittsburgh and surrounding areas of southwestern Pennsylvania; more general aspects of Pennsylvania history; various people and places of interest, both inside and outside the United States; and genealogical matters including lineage and military service.
