Hiram G. Andrews (b. 1877, d. 1968), editorial director of the Johnstown Democrat
from 1928 through 1941, was a prominent spokesman for the Democratic Party in
the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 1932 to 1963, serving at various
times as minority whip, as minority floor leader, and as speaker of the House.
The collection includes correspondence, 1921-1964, featuring letters from Genevieve
Blatt, Otis B. Morse, M. Harvey Taylor, and J. Irving Whalley; campaign file,
1961, 1962; awards, academic and other, 1901, 1935-1942, 1951; photographs (family,
travel, political, etc.), 1898-1923; postcards, 1924-1938; newspaper clippings,
1964; and miscellaneous books and pamphlets, 1890-1959.
