Herman Blum (b. 1885, d. 1973), chairman of the board of Craftex Mills, Inc.,
of Pennsylvania and a trustee of the Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science,
was a member of the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, 1963-1971;
Pennsylania member of the U.S. Civil War Centennial Commission; and an avid collector
of historical books and manuscripts. His research into the private lives, personal
finances, and foibles of the presidents of the United States resulted in the preparation
"Presidential Postscripts" in 1971. This work, a copy of which is located in the
coIlection, includes "Presidential Postscripts" from George Washington to James
Buchanan, 1 volume; "Presidential Postscripts" from Abraham Lincoln to Richard
M. Nixon, 1 volume; and "Presidential Postscripts" from George Washington to Richard
M. Nixon, 1 volume.
