Record books, correspondence, and other papers of a Civil War battery formed
at Mount Jackson, Lawrence County, and of the association subsequently established
by veterans of the battery. Among the engagements in which this unit participated
were the Second Battle of Bull Run and the battles of Antietam, Fredericksburg,
Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, the Wilderness, and Weldon Railroad. The correspondence
includes a letter from Simon Cameron, secretary of war, May 10, 1861, and a
letter from Major General George G. Meade, December 26, 1870.
