McCALLEY FAMILY PAPERS

The McCalley Family Papers are comprised primarily of materials relating to James B. McCalley, Jr. who became Pennsylvania's first licensed aviator in 1911 and served as an aviator trainer in Company D of the Eighth Regiment of the Pennsylvania National Guard during World War I.

Among the materials are biographical newspaper clippings dated 1912 and 1917-1920; National Air Races official guest cards, 1931; World War II draft board classification notices; business cards; miscellaneous receipts; telegrams; and undated Harrisburg postcards. There are also a large number of undated photographs including portraits of James McCalley, Jr., his brother Thomas Stewart McCalley, other family members, and aerial and ground shots of a parachute jump, officers, and air corps members taken at Langley Field, Virginia in 1925.
