Irene Bressler (1891-1969) was an employee of the State Library of Pennsylvania
and lifelong resident of Harrisburg. The collection includes photographic prints
collected by Bressler. The bulk of the images are cabinet card portraits of unidentified
individuals and families in Harrisburg, Ashland, Shamokin, Girardville, Pottsville,
Wilkes-Barre, and other anthracite coal region towns. Other items relate to a
Frank Durbin, lawyer from Lykens; Northern Arapahoe chiefs at the Carlisle Indian
School; the Pennsylvania State Library and Museum; views of Western Indian tribes
including Apache, Commanche, Sioux, Crow, Shawnee, and Umetilla; Western scenic
views such as "Old Faithful" Geyser, the town of Guthrie, Oklahoma; Texado Park
in Boulder, Colorado, and other miscellaneous images.
