Official and private papers, 57 items, of Tench Coxe (b. 1755, d. 1824), prominent Philadelphian, political economist who was named assistant secretary of the treasury in 1790, commissioner of revenue in 1792, and purveyor of public supplies in 1803. Papers are outgoing correspondence relating to activities of the above federal offices, and especially to the maintenance of the Sandy Hook Lighthouse in New York and to shipments of copper coin.
