Vincent P. Carocci began his career as a political journalist who covered state politics in Harrisburg during the 1960s for both the United Press International and the Associated Press. In the early 1970s he worked for the Philadelphia Inquirer. He next joined the Democratic staff of the Pennsylvania Senate for thirteen years. From 1987 to 1995 he rose to become Press Secretary for Pennsylvania Governor Robert P. Casey. After Governor Casey left office, he served as Director of Government Affairs for Capital Blue Cross until his retirement in 2003. He authored A Capitol Journey: Reflections on the Press, Politics, and the Making of Public Policy in Pennsylvania, which was published in 2005. His papers consist of his press files, compiled while he served as Press Secrretary for Governor Casey. Included are press releases, news articles, the Governor's News Digest, health files, and materials relating to the Abortion Control Act, economic development programs, highway and bridge programs, and the final report of the Governor's Commission to Investigate Disturbances at Camp Hill Correctional Institution.
