A graduate of and professor at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. William
D. Gordon became Pennsylvania's Deputy Secretary of Banking from 1923 to 1926
and served as Pennsylvania Secretary of Banking under Governor Gifford Pinchot
from 1931 to 1935. The collection contains books, periodicals, newspapers, scrapbooks,
loose format files, and bound volumes. The bound volumes include examinations,
audits, probes, studies, budgets, reports, and hearing transcripts pertinent
to banks located in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania during the Great Depression.
