Donated by Professor James Eisenstein, Ph.D. Yale Univsersity and Professor
Emeritus of the Department of Political Science at Penn State University, these
papers, including press releases and reports, document some of his work for
Common Cause. Common Cause is a nonpartisan, nonprofit advocacy organization
founded to enable citizens to make their voices heard by holding their elected
officials accountable to the public interest. The majority of the rest of the
material consists of papers that Eisenstein delivered at academic conferences.
These papers include reports on patterns of campaign finance in Pennsylvania
state elections. These papers, reports, and studies analyze information contained
in State Campaign Expense files, created by the Bureau of Comissions, Elections,
and Legislation in Pennsylvania's Department of State. Fifty-five additional
cubic feet of Dr. James Eisenstein's papers are held at Penn State University.
