Private papers of Mark Widoff who served as Pennsylvania Deputy Attorney General
from 1973 to 1976 and as the first Consumer Advocate of Pennsylvania from 1976-1979.
An independent office within the Office of the Attorney General, the Consumer
Advocate is appointed by the Attorney General. The Office of Consumer Advocate
was established by the General Assembly in 1976 to represent Pennsylvania Consumers
in matters concerning utility services. The papers contain information concerning
the setting up of the new Consumer Advocate Office, the Hurricane Agnes Flood,
and the Three Mile Island nuclear accident. Also present are some materials
on Mr. Widoff's private career.
