Correspondence, diaries, and related papers mainly of Brevet Brigadier General Charles C. McCormick (b. 1838, d. 1884) and his brother, Captain Robert M. McCormick (d. 1864), who both served as as officers in the 7th Regiment of Pennsylvania Cavalry during the Civil War. Most of the correspondence is from C. C. McCormick to members of his family in Milton, 1857-68, and particularly during his period of military service, 1861-64. Two diaries by C. C. McCormick, 1862, 1865, describe his life in the military. A diary by R. M. McCormick is dated 1858.
