RG-39
Records of the GAME COMMISSION

An independent administrative agency created by legislative action June 25, 1895, the Game Commission is responsible for the scientific management of all wild birds and mammals in the Commonwealth. As an independent agency, its authority stems from the Game and Wildlife Code. Not supported by tax money, its primary source of income is the sale of hunting licenses. The Game Commission is responsible for enforcing the Commonwealth's game laws relating to the management, protection and preservation of game, birds, and fur-bearing animals. The Commission regulates the hunting and trapping of game, sets bag limits, operates game farms and employs game protectors. Created in 1895 as the Board of Game Commissioners, it was renamed the Pennsylvania Game Commission in 1937.
