The Pennsylvania Department of Aging was created in 1978, with the passage
of Act 70, and charged with being an advocate for the interests of older Pennsylvanians
at all levels of government.
This cabinet-level sate agency was established to advance the well-being of
Pennsylvania's older citizens; to affect coordination in the administration
of federal and state aging programs; and to promote the creation and growth
of organizations designed to maximize independence and involvement of older
Pennsylvanians.
