Edwin Bell organized the company in 1877, which was incorporated in 1907, and
reorganized on July 12, 1921 after Bell's death. Mrs. Frank Holmes (daughter of
E.A. Bell) was made president in 1921.
The collection contains the general correspondence, accounts and miscellaneous
papers (including Bell family history) of Edwin Bell, company president, 1893-1921,
and Harry Albert, secretary-treasurer, 1921-1949. Also included are general
correspondence, legal files of cases, deeds, maps and account records for Frank
Holmes, company attorney, 1893-1939, and a Bell family history.
