Differential Vegetation
Some features leave no above-ground traces; some, such as wells or privies can show up as depressions in the ground; and some are marked by differential vegetation. Even without excavation, one can tell tht some sort of feature lies in a given area, although the date and function will likely not be evident.
Here we see a foundation that is clearly marked by differential vegetation.
